Rev. Joseph Anthamatten

The Rev. Joseph Anthamatten, C.PP.S., 89, St. Charles Center, 2860 U.S. 127, Carthagena, died July 23, 2005, at the infirmary there.
He was born June 6, 1916, in Conway, Ark., to Adolph Maurice and Adeline Benetz Anthamatten.
There are no survivors.
Deceased are four brothers, Adolph, Antone, James and Paul, and three sisters, Mary Valentine, Louise and Lucille.
He entered the Society of the Precious Blood at Burkettsville in September 1931 and was ordained to the priesthood May 9, 1943. He served as a chaplain throughout the Midwest and as pastor at numerous parishes including the St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry, St. Remy Catholic Church in Russia and St. Teresa Catholic Church in Rockford. He retired to Precious Blood Center in Liberty, Mo., for 20 years before moving to St. Charles Center in 1993.
Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Friday at St. Charles Center, the Rev. James Urbanic officiating. Burial will follow in the community cemetery.
Calling is 1-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at St. Charles.
Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry, has charge of arrangements.
