William David Beggs, 83, formally of Austin, Texas passed away on Friday, December 29, 2006 at Greenview Manor Nursing Home in Waco, Texas surrounded by his loving family. William was born on February 28, 1923 in Carbon, Texas to Samuel David and Opal Beggs. He attended Eastland schools and shortly afterwards, he joined the U.S. Army. He served in Japan during World War II. Upon his return from the service, he drove a gas truck. He owned and operated, along with his brother- in-law, Jim Brock, "Brock and Beggs Paint Contracting Company" until his retirement.
William was married 61 years to Connie Lee Wood until her death on November 19, 2002. They made their home in Lubbock until moving to Austin in 1969. He was also preceded in death by his parents, son, Jerry Glen, and brother, J.T. Beggs.
He will be sadly missed by his beloved family, sons, Larry and wife, Dixie of Troy and Terry and wife, Myra of Bastrop; he was blessed with six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Sam Beggs, Sr. and wife, Billie of Eastland; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Beggs of Rising Star; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 1, 2007 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Onion Creek Memorial Park with Dr. Ken Baldwin officiating. [Published in the Austin American-Statesman on 12/31/2006.]
