James Craig, 79, of Winfield passed away on Thursday, May 15,2003 at Scott County Hospital. Mr. Craig, was a member of the Clay Hill Missionary Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his mother, Sophia Craig; two sisters; two brothers; two brother-in- law; and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lelia Ball Craig; two children, Angie Terry and James Craig and wife Anita, all of Oneida; eight step-children, Wendell Phillips and wife Gloria, Wayne Phillips and wife Velma, Wade Phillips and wife Sherry, Terry Phillips and wife Alana, Wanda Neal, Wilda Ball and husband Delmer, Wauita West, and Susie Smith and husband Philip; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, 30 step-grandchildren, and 57 step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Don Newport; two sisters, Helen Ross and Kay Lloyd; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, May 18, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Jones and Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Joe Storey and Rev. Randall Hutson officiating. Special music was provided by Allen Matthews and Joyce Bowling. Burial followed in the Perkins Cemetery at Winfield, with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post #136 of Oneida. Serving as pallbearers were: Dewayne Terry, Tommy Craig, Wayne Phillips, Terry Roberts, Robert Phillips, and Chip Vater. JONES & SON FUNERAL HOME of Oneida was in charge of the arrangements.
