Ritha Fay Bonnette, 77, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010 at her daughter's residence. Funeral services to remember her life will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Deweyville. Officiating will be Reverend Mark Smith, pastor of the First Baptist Church – Loeb in Lumberton. Interment will follow services in the Deweyville Cemetery in Deweyville. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Monday at the church.
Born on July 28, 1932 in Deville, Louisiana to parents, Charley P. Thompson and Eunice Marie (Bordelon) Thompson, she lived in Lumberton for a short time and had previously lived in Woodville, Texas, Blanchard, Louisiana and Center Point, Louisiana.
Ritha had worked as a nurse for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church – Loeb. Ritha was a very forgiving and hard working person who enjoyed fishing, reading and spending time with her family.
Ritha is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edgar Bonnette; her sisters, Virlee Clark and Ruth Gordon; her brother, John Thompson and her grandson, Daniel Bonnette. Those most cherishing her memory are her daughter, Melissa Mattox and husband Walter of Lumberton; her sons, David C. Bonnette and wife Dana of Effie, Louisiana and Danny Ray Bonnette and wife Minerva of Haughton, Louisiana; her sister, Patsy Whitmire and husband Bill of Vidor; her brothers, Charles Thompson and wife Bobbie of Laurel, Mississippi, Jack Thompson and wife Glemia of Greenwood, Louisiana, Roy Thompson and wife, Flora of Blanchard, Louisiana and Gene Thompson and wife, Beverly of Deweyville; her sister-in-law, Carol Thompson of Deweyville. Her grandchildren, Dwayne and Bobby Mattox and Dustin, Mallory and Christian Bonnette. Ritha is also survived by many extended family and friends.
