BUXTON -- Clifford A. Anderson, 84, passed away on June 24, 2012, at the Maine Veteran's Home in Scarborough.
He was born in New Sweden on May 13, 1928, the son of the late Philip and Selma Anderson. After being brought up in New Sweden, Clifford enlisted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.
He married Carmen Hodgkin on May 22, 1951, and raised their family in Buxton. Clifford worked 35 years at SD Warren Paper Co.
Clifford will always be remembered as a family man who would do anything for a family member or person in need. He was very proud of his family and enjoyed taking trips and camping with his family, or simply taking a ride with them.
He was predeceased by a son at birth, Alfred Anderson; and his beloved wife, Carmen Anderson who passed away on Nov. 9, 2004. He will be sadly missed by his family, Jane Morabito of Gorham, John Anderson and his wife Barbara of West Newfield, Ruth Michaud and her husband Dan of Poland, Bertha Doyon of Standish, and Clyde Anderson of Standish; grandchildren, April Galarmeau, Patty Distasio and her husband Toni, Chad Anderson and his wife Sharon, Jason Anderson and his wife Laura, Jason Morabito, and David Doyon; great-grandchildren, Savanah Ryan, Ethan Galarmeau, Devin Williams, Miranda Anderson, George Anderson; Little Lilly, who he thought of as a foster great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of the staff on the A-Unit at the Maine Veteran's Home in Scarborough for their care they provided in Clifford's final year of life.
Visiting hours will be tonight, Tuesday, June 26, from 6-8 p.m., at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, located on the corners of Rts. 202 and 4A (13 Portland Rd.) in Buxton (Bar Mills). A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday morning, June 27, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow with U.S. Army honors at South Buxton Cemetery. www.DCPate.com.
