He was born on March 9, 1928 in DeLand and was a 1945 graduate of Pierson High School.
He attended the University of Florida and served in the US Army in Hanoi and Germany. He was a life member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Pierson. Also a life member of the Pierson VFW. He owned Pierson Mercantile until his retirement in 1974 and served on the Pierson City Council for 4 years. He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Mary Ellen. He was a very generous and honest man to his community, family and many others.
He was predeceased by his parents Annie and ACM Anderson and brother Doyle.
He leaves behind his wife of 54 years Mary Ellen; daughters Laurel Henry and Sonia (Brian) Guyer; grandchildren Lauren, Lacy and Lexy Henry and Carli and Corbin Guyer; many nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Carmie Burnsed.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11th from 5-8pm at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 12th at 11am at the Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery in Pierson.
