Sid as he was known was born in Mile End London to Sidney Ernest Fenwick and Hilda Mary nee chapman on 26th March 1925.As a youngster Sid showed a great talent as a footballer and cricketer.In 1937 he was chosen to play football for the England Schoolboys.At his School he was captain of the football and cricket teams and head boy.In 1939 he left school hoping to turn proffesional at football but alas the out break of war put an end to his dream.He joined the post office as a telegram boy and worked his way up to be an executive untill retirement in 1983.In 1941 due to the heavy bombing in the East End there house was hit by a land mine and caused severe structle damage so his parents managed to find a house in Kings Road West End Chobham now Woking thanks to Hildas brother who lived there.He served in the Royal Navy from 1943 to 1946.Upon his release he went back to the Post Office and he joined Chobham Football Club Playing with them for fourteen years.He was a very popular player and an excellent one.He also was offered trails for two major football clubs one being Dalington but declined.He also played football for the post office raising money for various charaties in his 40s and 50s.He played cricket for Chobham to start with in 1946 and then he joined Valley End in Windlesham in 1947 where he played for the first team and was captain in 1955 where he stayed for the next fifteen years.Due to his hours at work he had to leave Valley End and two years later was approached by West End Cricket Club to play for them where he stayed till he retired from playing and where he acheived his second century of his career there at the age of 51.He married Audrey Elizabeth Toon from Chobham whom he met at a dance in the Chobham Villiage Hall in 1949.In 1950 they got married and lived in West End untill his death in 1990.He died two weeks before there 40th wedding anniversary.He left two sons Michael and Christopher.Since then his beloved wife Audrey has died.
