Mrs. Acker died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, in Longview.
Mrs. Olive Alice Allen Acker was born October 15, 1939, in Beckville. She was the third of four children born to the marriage of Andrew Floyd and Vivian Williams Allen. She was raised and schooled in Beckville, where she graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1957. Olive married Tommy Eual Acker on March 12, 1961, and they had many wonderful years together before his death in 1973.
Mrs. Acker worked as an educator's aide for the Beckville ISD for more than 34 years. Olive loved her Lord as a lifetime member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church. She worked as an active community leader, involving herself in 4-H, the Beckville Music Club, secretary for the Beckville Ex's club and was voted Beckville's No. 1 Bearcat fan. Olive Acker loved life and laughter with family and friends, and if you knew her, you knew how to smile.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Floyd William "Bubba" Allen, and Nora Lee Robinson; and a grandchild, Cassie Tallue Acker.
Survivors include her devoted children, Scott Acker and wife, Diane of Beckville, Gary Acker and wife, Kay of Galloway, Tracy Acker and wife, Kelly of Beckville, Polly Maines and husband, Bruce of Antioch, and Wendy Harsin and husband, Mike of Quinlan; sister, Martha Griffith and husband, Autry of Kingwood; sister-in-law, Dianne Allen of Beckville; grandchildren, Jason Acker and wife, Jenifer, Mindy Casterline and husband, Todd, Jessica Latham and husband, Chris, Daniel Acker and wife, Laurie, De-wayne Acker and wife, Renee, Lisa Meshelle and husband, Chris, Hank Wimberly and wife, Kayla, Justin Wimberly, Lacy Acker, Lucas Maines, Kacey Maines, Robin Harsin and Molly Harsin; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Gage, Candice, Morgan, Kayla, Kenzy, Covie, Shelby, Miranda, Tilatha, Jayden and Braden; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Jason Acker, Daniel Acker, Lucas Maines, Dewayne Acker, Hank Wimberly and Justin Wimberly.
