MARIANO LAKE — Funeral services for John King Sr., 89, will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2004, at the King residence in Mariano Lake. Pastor Daniel Cleveland will officiate. Burial will be on family land in Mariano Lake.

King died July 7 in Crownpoint. He was born June 10, 1915, in Fort Wingate into the Deschine People Clan for the Mud People Clan.

He was a lifetime resident of Mariano Lake who worked for the railroad for 45 years before retiring in 1980. He was a medicine man and a rancher.

His hobbies included tending to his livestock. In 1950, he was cast in the movie "The Hallelujah Trail" which was filmed in the Fort Wingate and Church Rock area.

Survivors include his wife, Fannie M. King, of Mariano Lake; sons, Steven King of Pinedale, John King Jr. of Mariano Lake, and Donald King of Fort Defiance; daughters, Rena Livingston and Juanita Pino, both of Mariano lake, Linda Beach of Fort Defiance, Lucy K. Johnson of Lukachukai, and Anita King of Crownpoint; brothers, Paul H. Arviso, William H. Arviso, Johnny H. Arviso and Jimmy Arviso, all of Springstead, N.M.; sisters, Marie A. Johnson and Wilhelmina Becenti, both of Springstead; 85 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Donald King, Michael King, Herbert Stanley Jr., Robin Haley, David Livingston and Ricky Livingston.
