Mr. Colonel Monroe "Jack" Armes, age 82, of Moravian Falls died Saturday, May 21, 2005 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at Goshen Baptist Church in Wilkesboro . Burial with military rites by Post #1142 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Armes was born August 26, 1922 in Wilkes County to Franklin Callie and Inez Teague Armes. He was retired from Cannon Mills and was a member of Goshen Baptist Church. Mr. Armes served as a sergeant in the United States Army Air Force during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Belle Russell Armes; two sisters, Lula Belle Foster, Bessie Absher; five brothers, Bill Teague, John Armes, Thea Armes, Challie Armes, and Ivey Armes.

He is survived by: one son, one sister, one brother, one grandson, one step-granddaughter and two step great-grandsons.
