Alvin J. Berres, Sr., 93, left to meet his Lord and be reunited with his loving wife, Cindy, on May 27, 2005.

Alvin resided in rural Campbellsport for his entire life (except for his short stay at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home, where he passed away).

He was born on Dec. 26, 1911, a son of Peter and Emma Kaehne Berres.

On May 14, 1940, he married Lucinda Thome. Alvin and Lucinda "Cindy" farmed together their entire lives on the Berres homestead. Together they shared their love of farming and love of life.

Alvin attended St. Matthew's School and was a lifetime member of St. Matthew's Church, Campbellsport. He was a Farm Bureau member for over 50 years.

Alvin and Cindy raised five children, Kathy (Bill) Amidon of Fond du Lac, Joe (Barb) Berres of Campbellsport, Julianne (Jerry) Hau of Campbellsport, Margie (Gene) Sippel of Mount Calvary and Alvin Jr. "Butch" (Barb) Berres of Campbellsport. He was blessed with 18 grandchildren, Bill (Sheri) Amidon Jr., Missy (Jeff) Norenberg, Mark (Nicole) Amidon, Eric (Malinda) Amidon, Lisa (Arnold) Madela, Steve Berres, Jason Berres, Jeff Hau (special friend Joy Skarupa), Jim and John Hau, Janine (Tom) Frey, Julie (Chris) Manthie, Terry Sippel, Lori (Scott) Grahl, Brian Berres (special friend Nikki Smith), Kevin (Heather) Berres, Jay (Heather) Berres and Cindy (Casey) Twohig; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his children; one sister, Helen Edwards of Fond du Lac; two sisters-in-law, Marcella Thome and Edwina Thome of Johnsburg; and many friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one brother, Henry; and two sisters, Frances Burg and Olive Schmitz.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2005, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Campbellsport. The Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate, and burial will follow at the parish cemetery.

Visitation: Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, June 4, 2005, at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac.
