Lorienne Eve Arnold
Lorie Arnold, 30, died on July 7, 2005 at her home in Satellite Beach, Fla. Born on June 29, 1975, in Colorado Springs, she grew up in Greeley, and graduated from Greeley West High School in 1993. After completing her degree in Construction Management at CSU in Ft. Collins, Lorie worked for FCI Construction as a Project Engineer. She then moved to Florida, and was a Project Manager for NASA at Cape Canaveral. After Hurricane Frances in 2004, Lorie managed the restoration of NASA’S shuttle facilities, including the assembly buildings and landing strip. She achieved the goal of getting the site repaired quickly in order to avoid a delay of the first scheduled launch of the shuttle after the Columbia disaster. NASA’S “Return to Flight” mission with the shuttle Discovery, is scheduled for July 13. After completion of the restoration project for NASA, Lorie joined Heard Construction, a contractor for NASA at Cape Canaveral. She was a project manager, and had recently received a promotion to lead the marketing department in pursuit of new projects for Heard. She spent a great deal of time with animals, assisting with rehabilitation and care of baby animals for the Larimer Humane Society. In Greeley and Estes Park, she taught aerobics, and also enjoyed running. She had a passion for interior design. Lorie was also an avid reader, usually completing several books per week. She especially loved the Harry Potter novels and other fantasy stories. Lorie is survived by her parents, Leonard and Judy Arnold of Big Elk Meadows, in Lyons,; her grandmother, Thelma Arnold of Estes Park; her sister and brother-in-law, Alyssa and Christopher Ericksen and her nephew Brennen of Westminster; an uncle, Stephen Keeton of Newark, N.J.; her aunt and uncle, Pat and Ron Oldham of Bemidji, MN; her cousins, Brian and Chelsea Oldham of Bemidji; and her cousins Piper and Darrin Vollmer of Madison, Wis. A celebration of Lorie’s life will be held on Monday, July 18, at 11 a.m. at the Rocky Mountain Evangelical Free Church in Estes Park, Pastor Jess Mahon officiating. A private family burial will be held at Estes Valley Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the W.O.L.F. Sanctuary or the Larimer Humane Society in care of Allnutt Estes Park Chapel, 1302 Graves Avenue, Estes Park, CO 80517.
