was born Bet. 1660 - 1665 in Charles City, Henrico Co.,
VA
and died 1727 in Henrico Co., VA
She married Robert BURTON on 1686 in Charles City, Henrico Co.,VA
son of John "of Longfield" BURTON and Rachel Hutchins.
∼Mary Nowell was born in about 1665 in Charles City, Virginia, to John Nowell and Lydia Perkins, his wife.
Mary appears in the Henrico Order books in 1694 as "Mary, the wife of Robert Burton, was presented to the Grand Jury for 'prophanity'." If her husband was the cause of this outburst, we hope he paid her fine like a man.
It is worth noting that thru her mother, Mary was also descended from Burton's. Lydia Perkins Nowell, mother to Mary, was the daughter of Nicholas Perkins and his wife Mary Burton. Mary Burton was the daughter of John Burton and Lydia Fry, his wife. John Burton was brother to Richard Burton, father of John Burton, who was father of Robert Burton, husband of Mary Nowell!
