Sarah Widney Linn was the wife of Hugh Linn and the mother of John, William, Mary, Hugh II, Sarah, Margaret, James, Jane, and Nancy Linn. Sarah was an Irish girl of Dutch Descent. She was a direct descendant of one Colonel Widney who fought for William of Orange in the 1690 Battle of the Boyne, Ireland. For his services, he was granted an estate in County Tyrone, Ireland, which the family owned for several generations before coming to America. She was the mother of 9 children:
