Funeral services for Antonia H. Aldape of Carrizo Springs were held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Carrizo Springs at 10:00 a.m. Mrs. Aldape was born July 18, 1929 to Jose P. and Maria (Aguirre) Hernandez in Carrizo Springs and was a life long resident of Carrizo Springs. On January 15, 1945 she married Ramiro Aldape, Sr. in Carrizo Springs where they continued to make their home and rear their family. Mrs. Aldape died the previous Wednesday at the Baptist Medical Center Downtown in San Antonio at the age of 78. Survivors include her husband, Ramiro Aldape, Sr. of Carrizo Springs; three daughters, Alicia Martinez of Carrizo Springs, Dora Betancourt of Carrizo Springs, and Melissa Jenkins of Grand Prairie; one son, Ramiro Aldape, Jr., of Carrizo Springs; one sister, Juanita Cortez of Carrizo Springs; one half-sister, Gabriela Gonzalez of Carrizo Springs; one brother, Remijio Hernandez of Visalia, California; two half-brothers, Alfredo Hernandez of San Antonio, and Trini Hernandez of Laredo; four cousins raised as brothers, Genaro Aguirre of Racine, Wisconsin, Pedro Aguirre of Chicago, Illinois, Miguel Aguirre of Hammond, Indiana, and Ignacio Aguirre of Hammond Indiana; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Irene Rodriguez in 1991. Fr. Mario Flores Meza was the celebrant for the Requiem Mass and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Carrizo Springs under the direction of the Leonard Funeral Home, a member of the International Order of the Golden Rule. Serving as pallbearers were: Anthony Aldape, Danny Betancourt, Albert Martinez, Adrian Martinez, Airrik Martinez, and Aaron Martinez.Funeral services for Thelma Lucille Skinner of Blanco were held on Monday, July 21, 2008 graveside in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Carrizo Springs at 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Skinner, a former Carrizo Springs resident, was born November 6, 1909 to Henry Douglas and Mamie Olivia (McCarley) Martin in Cruz, Oklahoma. She was the widow of the late Jesse Eugene Skinner who preceded her in death in 1953. Mrs. Skinner died the previous Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Live Oak Medical Center in Blanco following an extended illness. She was 98 years, 8 months, and 11 days of age. She is survived by her daughter, Thelma Jean Marshall of Bulverde, Texas; four grandchildren, Nancy Stone of Bulverde, Texas; Robert "Bud" Marshall of Midland, Texas; Jess Marshall of San Angelo, Texas; and Ryon Marshall of Midland, Texas; four great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, one step great-great-grandchild as well as numerous other relatives. Various family members officiated at the graveside service and interment was made in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Carrizo Springs under the direction of the Leonard Funeral Home, a member of the International Order of the Golden Rule.
