Sally Ann (Swan) Friedrich Adriance
Sally Ann (Swan) Friedrich Adriance of 167 The Laurels, and formerly of Longmeadow, Mass., a longtime area civic leader, died Sunday at home.
She was a member and former director of the Junior League of Springfield, an honorary director of the Springfield Public Forums, and a trustee and auxiliary member of the former Wesson Memorial Hospital.
She was a former corporator of the former Wesson Maternity Hospital, Baystate Medical Center, the Springfield Day Nursery and the Springfield Girls Club. She was a former president of Longmeadow Gardeners and the Atalanta Club, a former director of the Century Club, a member of the Fine Arts Council of the Arts Museums at the Quadrangle, and a member of the Field Club of Longmeadow.
Born and schooled in Longmeadow, she attended the Walnut Hill School in Natick, Mass., and graduated from Pine Manor Junior College in the Chestnut Hill section of Boston. She was a member of First Church of Christ in Longmeadow.
She also belonged to the steering committee for the Rays of Hope and was a former member of the Springfield Colony Club, the Woodstock (Vt.) Country Club and the Longmeadow Country Club.
She leaves her husband, Harris E. Adriance III; a son, Kristian S. Friedrich of the Feeding Hills section of Agawam; three stepsons, Richard T., Peter McLeod and David H. Adriance; a stepdaughter, Ann McMurray Adriance; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted on June 18 at the church, with a private burial in Longmeadow Cemetery . Dickinson-Streeter Funeral Service is in charge.
