William Commer Everett Jr., 70, of Bayou George, Fla., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 4, 2010.

Mr. Everett was born April 1, 1940, in Geneva County, Ala., a son of the late William Commer Everett Sr. and Nancy Sowell Everett. He was a 23-year veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War. During his distinguished career, he received numerous commendations and honors. After retiring from the U.S. Army, he joined the Veterans Administration where he assisted other veterans in finding jobs. Mr. Everett was an active member of American Veterans Post 549 and the Bayou George Volunteer Fire Department.
We will remember him as a loving man who enjoyed his family, friends and telling stories.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, JoAnn Fettinger Everett; three children, Cleave Everett, Melinda Everett and Todd Everett all of Bayou George; three sisters, Aunette Shipes of Savanah, Ga., Willie Jean Anderson (James) of VA and Earline Sloan of Panama City, Fla.; two grandchildren, Conan Alexander Everett and Jazman Everett; one great-grandchild, Brookelynn Everett; special friend, Jim Hixson; nieces, nephews and lots of friends.
