Ruby Jane Briles, 96, of Adams, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.

Ruby Jane Webb Briles was called to heaven on November 22, 2008. She has been reunited in the Kingdom of God with her devoted husband, Glen Briles. As a young child, she dedicated her life to the Lord. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Ruby was born September 7, 1912 at the family farm on the Coldwater Creek 2? miles west of the present town of Hardesty, Oklahoma to Leonadus and Maude Webb. Her father homesteaded on the Coldwater in 1906. Ruby's parents rode a train from Virginia to the Oklahoma Panhandle bringing their boys, Arthur and Lonnie. After establishing their home, three girls were born: Daisy, Eula and Ruby.

Ruby attended Meadowview Grade School adjacent to her father's farm. After Hardesty became a town, Ruby was able to attend high school in a church there.

Ruby met Glen Briles at a revival service at Meadowview Grade School by Glen's father, Earl Briles. They were married on February 16, 1936 in her parent's home.

To this union was born a son, Owen, and a daughter, Glenda. Glen and Ruby farmed and ranched southeast of Adams, Oklahoma until they retired in 1975. At that time, they moved to their home in Adams.

In addition to working side-by-side with her husband milking cows, selling cream, cooking for hired hands, and raising two brilliant children, she taught Sunday school and was active in the Adams Farm Women's Club for 30 years. She supported her husband's passion for Boy Scouts by cooking at summer scout camps. For this, she received the Scouter's Wife Award four times. One of her greatest passions was having her grandchildren come and stay with her on the farm.

Preceding her in death are grand daughter Rebecca Keenan and her husband, Glen Briles who passed away on October 9, 2007, at the age of 97.

Family remaining to celebrate Ruby's life includes her son, Owen Briles and wife Marcielle Briles; daughter, Glenda Keenan; grandchildren, Deanna Walenta, Carla Briles, Sean Keenan, Audra Keenan, Brian Keenan, Kara Keenan and Michael Keenan; great grandchildren, Alex Meinert, Ethan Walenta and Malaia Martinez.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 25, at the Union Center Church near their farm east of Adams, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Union Center United Methodist Church east of Adams, Oklahoma with Rev. Herbert Bridgewater officiating. Interment will be in the Union Center Cemetery.
