Ruby was born September 7, 1912 at the family farm on the Coldwater Creek 2? miles west of the present town of Hardesty, Oklahoma to Leonadus and Maude Webb. Her father homesteaded on the Coldwater in 1906. Ruby's parents rode a train from Virginia to the Oklahoma Panhandle bringing their boys, Arthur and Lonnie. To this union was born a son, Owen, and a daughter, Glenda. Glen and Ruby farmed and ranched southeast of Adams, Oklahoma until they retired in 1975. At that time, they moved to their home in Adams.
In addition to working side-by-side with her husband milking cows, selling cream, cooking for hired hands, and raising two brilliant children, she taught Sunday school and was active in the Adams Farm Women's Club for 30 years. She supported her husband's passion for Boy Scouts by cooking at summer scout camps. For this, she received the Scouter's Wife Award four times. One of her greatest passions was having her grandchildren come and stay with her on the farm.
