Funeral services were held March 13 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Ocheyedan for Martha Arend, age 81, of Ocheyedan, who died April 10 at the Country View Manor in Sibley. Rev. Wayne Brinkman officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service. Burial was in the Ocheyedan township cemetery with Walton Funeral Home assisting.
Martha was born January 31, 1897 to August and Louisa Pinkenburg Arend at Ocheyedan. She attended a parochial elementary school and was a charter member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Frieda (Mrs. Wm. Schuster) of Valley Springs, S.D. and Gertrude (Mrs. Clarence Nonneman) of Melvin, Iowa.
