Siguiel was a Native American born at ranchería Aujai (Ojai) about 1778. He was the son of Sicsayeguit ("Elóy José", SBV Baptism 01399). His mother's name was not recorded, but she was a native of Mupú. Siguiel assumed his Christian name, Julian Vicente, at his baptism at Mission San Buenaventura on January 22, 1795, when he was about 8 or 9 years old (SBV Baptism 00827). Julian died at Mission San Buenaventura and was buried in the mission cemetery on January 18, 1820 (SBV Death 02310).
