Bob was born in Paxton, grew up in Orange and was a resident of Lumberton, Texas since 1963.
He passed away after an extended illness.
During his forty five years of living in Lumberton, Bob was actively involved in the Lumberton Lions Club, Lumberton School Board serving 23 years, Lumberton Little League and Lumberton Athletics Booster Club. He was instrumental in building Lumberton's Senior Citizen Center, planning and organization of the city of Lumberton, and the planning and organization of the Lumberton Mud District. While serving on the Lumberton School Board he was a significant contributor to the building of Lumberton Primary School, Lumberton Intermediate School, and portions of Lumberton High School. During his membership at Infant Jesus Catholic Church he was one of the founders of the original church building. He served many years on the Beaumont Home Builders Association.
During his service to the Lumberton community he was honored with many awards such as citizen of the year, lion of the year multiple times, and an excellence in education award.
Bob was well known in his community for his can do: get it done attitude. He supported his friends and always made new friends by giving many hours of community service to such endeavors as: rebuilding homes, sand bagging during floods, re-roofing homes and organized various fund raisers.
He was a carpenter and home builder until 1974 when he became the owner of Quality Sales in Beaumont, Texas where he worked until his retirement in 1999.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gene and Sarah Jane Agnew and his wife Mary Ellen Agnew.
