The headstone is joint for brothers George O. Allender and Lyzell Everett “Frosty” Allender. They evidently chose to be buried in the same plot. George's wife Dorothy L. Emerson Allender died on Feb.29, 2000 and was reportedly buried in Lockridge cemetery, but evidently not with George. Lyzell was married twice, but neither wife was/is buried with him.

Death takes G. Allender

George Allender, 73, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday in the Ottumwa hospital. He had been in failing health the past three months.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. in the Behner Funeral Home with Rev. John F. Temple officiating. Burial in Lockridge cemetery.

He was born in Jefferson county November 11, 1904 the son of Lawrence and Martha Kathryn Smith Allender. In 1934 he was married to Dorothy Emerson. He has lived in Jefferson and Henry counties all his life. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Surviving is one son, Max Allender of Des Moines, one grandchild and one sister, Velda Hildebrand of Fairfield. He was preceded by two brothers.
