A 10-year-old Kanata boy was among four area people killed on the weekend when the van he was travelling in slid off the westbound Queensway into a light standard Sunday night.
Ontario Provincial Police say the van, which slid off the icy passing lane into a light post near Woodroffe Avenue, was carrying foudn children and one adult.
The dead boy is Russell Ancheta of Parsons Ridge Road. He wasn't travelling with his family, but with driver Edward Miranda, 45, a family friend.
An Ancheta family member said the group was returning from a Filipino cultural meeting in Ottawa.

Friends may call at the Tubman Funeral Home, 3440 Richmond Road at Acres on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Funeral service will be held at the Kanata Baptist Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment Pinecrest Cemetery.
