Of the Augusta Co., VA. Regiment. Capt. Samuel Wilson married Mary Babb 11 Oct 1753 Chester Co., PA. [reference to Col/Burgess John Wilson/Martha Crouchman needs to be removed as the Burgess is not a YDNA match to our Wilson's.

William (my line), Capt Sam, Lt Col George, Robert and Archelaus (aka Horklas, Hercules in Chalkley's Augusta Count Records) are an exact Y-DNA match. Also, Robert (b. 1729) is the documented son of Archelaus. They all lived together on Cowpasture/Bullpasture until Archelaus sold his Cowpasture property to my William and Lt Col George then Archelaus and son Robert moved with surveyor Richard Holman/Holman to what is now Person County, NC to survey that area of NC. As surveyor with Holman, Archelaus is denoted as both Archelaus and Hercules along with son Robert and hzokman on those survey records. Archelaus died there on Flat River next to son Robert (Robert married Ann Latta in NC in what is now Person Co).
Archelaus/Hercules died before 1780 (making Archelaus about 80 years of age when he died) as there is a court record of his probated estate in 1780. Interestingly, Robert named four of his sons William, George, Samuel, and Archelaus. Thank you for correcting this old error by a previous genealogist. Cheers! Steve

Inscription

Virginians Killed in the battle of Point Pleasant
Burial of the Dead.
The day after the battle, the bodies of the men slain therein, together with those who died of wounds that night were buried in different places; the following Officers-Colonel Charles Lewis, Colonel John Field, Captain John Murray, Captain Robert McClennahan, Captain Samuel Wilson, Lieutenant Hugh Allen, John Frugg, George Cameron-being laid to rest inside the magazine directly on the upper point of land, at the confluence of the rivers-now Tu-Endi-Wei Park. All were interred without the pomp of war. But that day the cheers of many a Virginia-West Virginia mountaineer were bedewed with tears.
