Thomas Franklin "Tom" Baker, 82, of Mexia, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2007, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia. Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, March 26, at Porter Funeral Home Chapel in Mexia, with Pastor Don Hoxworth officiating. Interment will follow in Lost Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Tom was born to the late Elmer J. and Callie Roxie Baker. He was a veteran of World War II, member of the VFW and retired after many years of service with the Highway Department. Uncle Tom loved his family and friends. His passions were horses, farming, dancing, helping everyone and his turnip patch. You would see him with his mules and wagons. He helped start the Mexia Riding Club and led many Grand Entries at the rodeos.

He was preceded in death by his precious wife of many years, Ruby "Nell" Baker.

Survivors include his daughters, Nelda Jean Sidener and husband, John, of Mexia, and Jan Powell and husband, Johnny, of Ft. Worth; son, Larry Baker and wife, Ellie, of Mexia; other relatives and many friends.
