Donnie Ila Allen Blake

Donnie Ila Allen Blake of Midland, formerly of the Sweetwater area, died at 9 p.m. Monday in a Midland hospital. She was 86.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Dan Burrow, pastor of Avondale Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be at Palava Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.

Born Donnie Ila Allen on Dec. 29, 1899, in Commerce in Hunt County, she married Lee Edward Blake on May 20, 1915, in Roby. He died Oct. 5, 1972.

Retired from Montgomery Ward, she had been in Midland four years. Before moving to Midland, she had lived in Fisher County since 1914. She was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Lobertuis Blake, and a daughter, Elmarie Wright.

Survivors include three daughters, Inez Arnold (Mrs. Roy) Compton of Midland, Imogene George (Mrs. Dug) Harvey of Roby and Bobbie (Mrs. Matt) Rich of Beaumont; two sons, Audry Blake of Caballo, N.M., and L.E. Blake, Jr. of San Marcos; two sisters, Jewel (Mrs. Herbert) Rudd of Sweetwater and Jaynelle (Mrs. Vernon) Brumfield of Sweetwater; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
