Carol Collins, 77, of Dulce, passed away on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 in Farmington. She was born May 18, 1934, in Cabresto, N.M.,to Juan Cassador and Juanita Cassador.
She was a LPN for more than 40 years. She worked as a nurse in Schurz, Nev., San Carlos, Ariz., Crownpoint and Shiprock. Carol retired in the 1990s and moved to Dulce, where she resided until her passing.
Carol's hobbies included gardening, many arts and crafts and teaching the youth the Jicarilla Apache language and culture. She participated in Senior Olympics and helped the local Culture Center in Dulce. She loved attending her grandkids' school and sports events.
Carol was an adventurous woman who loved to travel. She had a big warm heart, a caring smile, and she constantly touched the heart of those around her. She will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Woodrow Collins.
She is survived by a son, Clarence Collins; a daughter, Rhoda Sandoval; a sister, Ardina Vigil; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Carol will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 1, at the Jicarilla Apache Reformed Church in Dulce.
Interment will follow at the Dulce Cemetery.
