arry J. Ahlfors , 65, a Sterling resident, died May 3 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna following a lengthy illness. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kehl's Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Vincent Nicita officiating. A visitation will precede the service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Mr. Ahlfors was born Sept. 26, 1923, in Toledo, Ohio. He moved from California to Anchorage in 1966. In 1969, he retired from the U.S. Air Force at Elmendorf Air Force Base. He moved to the Sterling area where he pursued his hobby of fishing. He enjoyed flying remotecontrol airplanes. He was a member of the Kenai Elks Lodge 2425.
He leaves his son, Mike, of Kenai; his daughter, Sharon, of Sterling; his sister, Jean Sahli, of California; and two grandchildren. Burial will be in Angelus Memorial Park. Memorials may be sent to the Providence Hospital Cancer Therapy Center in Anchorage, or to the Peninsula Home Health Care in Kenai. Service arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
