Catherine Jeanette Allen, 86, of Atchison, KS passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at her residence.
Catherine was born September 27, 1924 in Effingham, KS the daughter of Fred Johnson Sr., and Esther Hall Johnson. She attended Effingham elementary schools and Atchison County Community High School.
She and Howard Allen were united in marriage in 1949 in Atchison. Mr. Allen preceded her in death in 1978. Catherine was employed with the Electra Company, Saunders Manufacturing Company and the Atchison Leather Products Company until her retirement in 1988.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol A. Allen-Oliver and husband Donnie Oliver, Atchison, Linda K. Miskimon, Atchison, a son, Jimmy W. Allen, Atchison, two brothers, Fred Johnson Jr. and Clifton Johnson, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Malcolm L. Miskimon and Howard E. Allen Jr., her parents, a brother, Thomas F. Johnson, a sister, Virginia L. McLaughlin and grandchildren, Tamara J. Miskimon, Lowell (Justin) Conard, Angela Marie Conard and Savannah Luna Varney.
Funeral services for Catherine J. Allen will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28 in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Samuel Lough officiating. Inurnment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation with the family will be from noon until 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
