He was born Jan. 2, 1907, in Lutherville, Ark., the son of Frank and Anna Marie Kauffeld Doepel. He married Ruby Lucille Walker in 1932 in Jacksonville; she preceded him in death in Feb. 2000. An infant son, Robert Frank Doepel, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Doepel attended school in Arkansas, moving to Illinois in 1928. He farmed in Scott and Pike Counties until his retirement.
Survivors: a daughter, Anna Bell (husband, Lewis) Dawdy of rural Pittsfield; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial: Bloomfield Cemetery northwest of Winchester.
