Graveside services for Mr. Winston Betts, age 87, of Lindale are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 2, 2005 in the Damascus Cemetery with Rev. Charles Fischer officiating. Mr. Betts died Monday morning at his residence. Services are under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors in Lindale.

Mr. Betts was born November 26, 1917 in Eclectic, Alabama to Cleveland and Ella Edwards Betts and lived the majority of his life in Lindale, Texas. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy onboard the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier and was a self-employed carpenter. Mr. Betts was also a member of the Damascus Baptist Church and a 50 year member of the Lindale Masonic Lodge #848.

He is survived by his Wife, Mrs. Helen Betts of Lindale; Son, Glenn Betts of Lake Jackson; Daughter, Mrs. Paula Nunelee of Lindale; 3 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren; Stepchildren, Moncella Reed of Lindale, Phyllis Sterne of Saw Springs, OK, Alicia Avery of Tyler, Foy Hartman of Evanston, Wyoming, Joe Hartman of Lindale, Isaac Hartman of Swansboro, North Carolina, Starla Jones of Benton, Arkansas, & David Hartman of Lindale; numerous Step Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale.
