Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter, Wed. Jan. 3, 1934, p. 16:6. ILLNESS FATAL TO MATT ABLER. Retired Farmer Expires At Home In City After Extended Sickness. Matt Abler, 74, lifelong resident of the county, died this morning at his home, 34 East Follett street, after 2 1/2 years illness. Born in the Town of Marshfield, Mr. Abler had been a resident of the city for several years. He was engaged in farming in the county prior to moving to the city, where he followed the carpenter's trade. Surviving are his widow, a sister, Mrs. Kate Eggers of Wauwatosa, and four brothers, Michael of this city, Peter and John of Empire and Joseph of Osceola. Mr. Abler was a member of the Holy Name society of St. Patrick's church. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday from the Zinke funeral home, where the body is lying in state, and at 9:30 a.m. from St. Patrick's church. Burial will be at Taycheedah cemetery.

Funeral services for Matt Abler, who died Wednesday, were held at 9 a.m. today from the Zinke funeral home and at 9:30 a.m. from St. Patrick's church. The Rev. J.J. Shanahan officiated. Burial was at St. Charles cemetery, Taycheedah. The services were largely attended. Pallbearers were Robert Farrell, John O'Connor, James McGray, George Tice, William McCormick and John Cody. Mr. and Mrs. John Worm and daughter, Virginia, of Wauwatosa were among those in attendance.
