FARLEY, Iowa -- Marlene L. Boll, 74, of 805 1st Ave. N.W., Farley, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hosptials and Clinics, Iowa City, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Placid. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a Cascade American Legion Auxiliary Rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a scripture wake service at 4 p.m.

Mrs. Boll was a bus driver for 26 years for the Western Dubuque School District.

She was born on Aug. 1, 1933, in Iowa City, daughter of John and Margaret (McDermott) Tench. She was a graduate of the former Peosta High School.

She married Merlin Boll on May 1, 1954, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Peosta.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley, and a member of the Cascade American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, Merlin Boll, of Farley; five children, Cherrie (Steve) Thier, of Farley, Linda Lake, of Otsego, Minn., Jeff (Amy) Boll, of Asbury, Raleigh Boll, of Santee, Calif., and Karla (Don) Trenkamp, of Dyersville; eleven grandchildren, Angela (Tim) English, Jennifer (Pat) Hogrefe, Brandon Lake, Natalie, Alex and Gavin Boll, Kaleigh and McKenzie Boll, Maggie, Holly and Wade Trenkamp; three great-grandchildren, Claire and Bennett English and Ashton Hogrefe; and a brother, Dr. Peter (Ann Marie) Shorten, of Scranton, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
