Mrs. Margaret Dougherty Rowland, wife of the late James H. Rowland, died Saturday morning at her home on College avenue, Eatontown. Mrs. Rowland was born at Middletown 79 years ago. She was a member of Pride of Monmouth council, Sons and Daughters of Liberty of Red Bank, and the Eatontown Methodist church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Frances Agnes Bennett of Tinton Falls, Mrs. Florence Elsie Chaffin of Eatontown and Mrs. Carrie Hebler of Westfield: a son, Harry S. Rowland of Eatontown and 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chaffin of College avenue, Eatontown, with Rev. Richard G. Sullivan, pastor of the Eatontown methodist church, officiating. Interment, in charge of the Charles Breese funeral home, Eatontown, was in Green Lawn cemetery, West Long Branch. Three coaches carried the numerous floral pieces. Police Chief Harry N. Kirkegard of Eatontown provided police escort. The bearers were William O. Hebler, Jr., William L. Bennett, Howard and Edward Jensen, Harry S. Rowland, Jr. and Matthew Hughes.
