Ricardo G. Romero, age 86, a resident of Las Nutrias, passed away on Wednesday, December 6,, surrounded by his loving family.
He was a member and involved throughout his life with Our Lady of Sorrows Parish and a pillar of the Las Nutrias Community. Ricardo was a proud veteran having served in the armed forces during World War II.
He worked for Belen schools for 16 years. Ricardo was a loving husband, daddy and Tata. He was a farmer and loved being outside with his cows. He was best known to his family for his ability to make each and every one of them feel special and known for his smile and sharp wit.
Ricardo is leaving a legacy of integrity and honor to continue to represent the Romero name that he was so proud of.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Blacita Romero; his only son, Henry and his wife, Rosalyn of Las Nutrias; daughters, Angie Chavez and her husband, Ruben, Elfa Ulibarri and Fermin all of Las Nutrias, and Lorraine Chavez and her husband, Delfin of Belen; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. He is also survived by two brothers, Boleslo Romero and his wife, Cecilia, and Willie Romero and his wife, Dora and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
A rosary was held at the San Isidro Catholic Church in Las Nutrias on Friday, December 8. A final visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, at with a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at the Las Nutrias Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert, Michael, John and James Chavez, Kevin Ulibarri, Jared and Leslie Romero and Kimberly Chavez. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
