Gladys Harris Adams, 83, of Murphy, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Murphy Medical Center.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. She was the daughter of the late Pearlie and Louise Reid Johnson.

Gladys was a homemaker. She enjoyed fishing, camping, visiting friends and neighbors. Gladys loved spending time with her family. She was an active member of Ranger Baptist Church, and she enjoyed going to church services.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister and two husbands, Cornelius Harris and Wayne Adams.

She is survived by one son, Randle Harris and wife Myra of Marble; one stepson, L.B. Adams and wife Geraldine of Murphy; one daughter, Brenda Harris of Andrews; three grandchildren, Kelly Harris Ensley, Amy Harris Peacock and Karen McDonald; three stepgrandchildren, Nikki Adams, Ben Adams and Mike Adams; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Revs. Johnny Foster, Lloyd Fish and L.B. Adams officiated. Burial was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Ben Adams, Ricky McDonald, Ronnie McDonald, Jeff Johnson, Lewis Voyles, Kenneth Jones, Robert Ensley and Ben Peacock.

The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ranger Baptist Church, 151 Walker Road, Murphy,
