Mr. Anderson was a graduate of Stronghurst High School. He was employed at B.L. Robinson Corporation for twenty three years, retiring in 1988.
Jay was known as the "Bluebird Man" of Carman. He loved to watch and feed bluebirds, and built houses and cared for them. He was also proud of having trapped and removed hundreds of moles from the sandy soil of Carman Township Cemetery and for many residents in and around Carman. He was a member of the Carman United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter - Jackie (Dennis) Willson of Burlington, IA., one son - William Doran of Carman, six grandchildren - Jessica Doran, Ryan (Megan) Hassel, Sybil (Michael) Baxa, Megan Ann Hassel, Denny Willson, Allison Doran, two great grandchildren - Kamari and Giano Crews, and one sister - Laura (Alan) Westerbeck of Des Peres, MO.
He was preceded in death by three brothers- Roy, Guy, and Lee Anderson and one sister - Ruth Harvey.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday August 27, 2008 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Rev. Gene Turner officiating.
Burial will be in the Carman Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at Banks & Beals, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday.
