LENOIR - Theodore R. Adkins, 89, of Lenoir, died Sept. 28, 2000, at Caldwell County Hospice.
Born Sept. 20, 1911, in Wilkes County, he was a son of the late Ralph B. and Vertie Minton Adkins.
A member of Miller Hill Baptist Church, he retired from Singer Furniture Industries.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Hoyle Adkins; four brothers, Boyd Adkins, Clyde Adkins, Drew Adkins and Selmer Adkins; and three sisters, Pearl Blankenship, Beatrice Prestwood and Noll Eller.
Survivors include a son, Royce Wayne Adkins of Lenoir; two daughters and sons-in-law, Reba and Kenneth Atkins of Roanoke, Va., and Susan and Noel Watts of Hendersonville; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
