John Allen Alexander, 66 a resident of Star, died Saturday June 2, 2007 at his home surrounded by loved ones. John was born on Oct.8, 1940 in Chadron, Neb. He was the second oldest son of John and Ina Alexander. John moved with his family to Pilot Rock, Ore. where he attended high school. After high school, John joined the Army and proudly served four years. After serving in the Army he completed an electronics course at Boise Junior College. John married his wife, Eldene Hoagland, on Oct. 29, 1963, in the little town of Melba, Idaho. John retired after 30 years of loyal service with the Ada County Highway District. During John's time off from the ACHD, he enjoyed spending it packing, fishing and riding his mules with his family and friends. John loved going hunting in Idaho's back country with his hunting buddies, John Stephenson, Gary Smith and Keith Lambrecht. He loved spending time with his wife and three daughters camping, fishing and wood cutting. John also enjoyed spending time going to his grandchildren's activities and teaching them how to fish, camp, ride animals and hunt. He also made it a habit of taking his son-in-law to farm and estate sales. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Eldene, his three daughters; Tancy Alexander and her son Cody, of Middleton, Laree and Bob Trent and their two children Janay and Mackay, of Nampa, and Karen Alexander, of Yakima, Wash. His sister, Ina Rae and John Stephenson, and brothers Steve Alexander, and Hank and Janice Day, as well as numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John Alexander and Ina (Alexander) Duvall, his grandson Christopher (Critter) Crispin, four brothers, James, Victor, and Donald Alexander and Terry Day, his nephews Robert Stephenson and Guy Weber and his in-laws Bill and Venera Hoagland and their son LaMar. Services will be held on Wednesday June 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the LDS Church located at 484 Main Street in Star, Idaho. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9 -10:15 a.m. Interment will follow at the Star Cemetery.
