Services for Mrs. Essie E. Birdwell, 99, Brushy Creek, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday in the Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Chapel, Palestine, with the Rev.M.H. "Bud" Peters officiating.
Burial will be in the Olive Branch Cemetery, Brushy Creek.
Mrs. Birdwell died Thursday in a Tyler Hospital.
She was born Oct. 19, 1893, in Navarro County, a daughter of Oscar O. Berry and Cassie Virginia Arnold Berry. Mrs. Birdwell was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Benton Birdwell, on Sept. 18, 1973, and a daughter, Ann Wallace, in 1989.
She was a charter member of the Pisgah Baptist Church in Brushy Creek.
Survivors include four daughters, Ella Mae Weeks of Brushy Creek, Ruby Thorton of Chandler, Ellen Loyless of Lake Palestine and Ruth Dearing of Corpus Christi; a son, John Edgar Birdwell of Flippin, Ark; two sisters, Lydia Bell Evans of Brushy Creek and Blanche Henderson of Palestine; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
