Robert H. Boll, 64, of Lakefield, formerly of Verdi, Minnesota passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Funeral Services for Bob will be on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota with Pastor Julie Anderson officiating.
Burial will take place at Memorial Hill Cemetery in Lake Benton with Military Honors Provided by the Lake Benton American Legion.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday June 29, 2012 at Osterberg- Hansen Funeral Home in Lakefield. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 1:00 PM until the time of the service at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton.
Robert Henry Boll was born on July 12, 1947 in Hendricks, Minnesota the son of Fred and Alma (Gust) Boll.
He grew up on a farm by Verdi, Minnesota and attended Verdi Public Schools. He graduated high school in 1965.
Following high school he worked in Luverne building silos for Hanson Silo Company.
Bob joined the U.S. Air Force on August 9, 1966; he was stationed in Germany for three years with the 7101 Material Sq. in the Supply Field. He was discharged on August 7, 1970.
Upon returning home he held various jobs throughout North and South Dakota and Minnesota.
On July 13, 1991, he married Elaine Lillian (Casler) Batton in Worthington. They also moved to Lakefield that same year.
In 1997, Bob retired from Swift Inc in Worthington because of health issues.
Robert passed away at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the age of 64 years, 11 months, and 12 days.
Robert was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota, where in his younger years he was active as an Usher.
He was a proud member of A.A. since November 12, 1980. Bob also was a very proud member of the American Legion in Lake Benton.
He enjoyed doing latch hook and putting together puzzles in his spare time.
Bob always had time to visit with his family and friends and sit down for a cup of coffee.
Bob is survived by his wife of 20 years Elaine Batton-Boll of Lakefield, step children Lyle (Kathy) Batton of Thief River Falls, MN and their two children Christopher and Steven Batton; Karen Christensen of Mason City, IA; Karla (Raymond) Swalve of Garner, IA and their four children Amber Jesse, Jeremy, Damian, and Caleb Swalve; and Eva (Russell) Sonnabend of Northrop, MN, and one great granddaughter Anastasia Jesse. Bob is also survived by a brother Marvin (Lucy) Boll of Lake Benton, and his brother-in-laws Donald (Edwina) Casler of Rockford, IA and Richard (Marsha) Casler of Leland, IA and his nieces and nephews.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, an infant sister, and his brother Donald Boll.
