Gilbert Chu Woo Mah, 88, passed peacefully on February 24, 2011.
Surviving Gilbert are his devoted wife of sixty-three years, Fay, his three sons, Alan, Leonard, and Jeffrey, three daughters-in-law, and nine grandchildren.
A WWII veteran, Gilbert served with the 668 Engineering Topographic Company producing assault maps as the V Corps, 1st Army advanced through Europe from D-Day through VE Day.
After WWII, Gilbert settled in San Francisco and was a longtime resident. Gilbert retired after a productive, continuous thirty years at Bechtel. His pride as a Giants fan was evidenced when he replaced his well-worn, classic Giants cap with the 2010 World Series Champion cap. Gilbert loved spending time with family and friends.
The wake will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at McAvoy O'Hara Evergreen Mortuary, 4545 Geary Boulevard, San Francisco, CA. The funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Golden Hill Memorial Park, Colma, CA.
