Funeral Services Held Wednesday For Mrs. Aylward

Well Known Brookhaven Resident Dies Monday After 3 Weeks' Illness

Mrs. Robt. Francis Aylward, better known as Mrs. Frank Aylward, died between 11 and 12 o'clock Monday night at the King's Daughters Hospital in this city where she had been carried only a few hours earlier. She had been ill at her home for about 3 weeks, though at intervals she felt well enough to be up.

The former Miss Bertha Massey of Pensacola, Fla., Mrs. Aylward had passed her 62nd birthday on Jan. 7.

She had come to Brookhaven as the bride of a prominent merchant of this city, Frank Aylward.

Except for a residence of approximately a half dozen years in Pensacola, she and her husband had made their home in Brookhaven continuously from the time of their marriage until his death more than two years ago, in this city.

Mrs. Aylward had made devoted friends and enjoyed the high regard of communities in which she had lived.

She was a member of the local Catholic church and it's Altar Society.

Her death comes as a sad blow to her only immediate descendant, Mrs. Harrison Case, the former Miss Mary Ellen Aylward, who with Mr. Case and their little son, shared the virtually new home on West Chippewar tSreet and to a sister, Mrs. Edmund Fox, and a brother, John Massey, both of Pensacola.

During the interval between Mrs. Aylward's death and the hour of the funeral, many called at the home to express their esteem for her, and their sympathy to the bereaved.

A requiem mass was held for Mrs. Aylward at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Francis church, the pastor, the Rev. M. A. MacHale paid a tribute to Mrs. Aylward as a faithful and active member of the church, and Christian home-maker.

At special request, Mr. J. H. Johnson sang.

Interment was made in the family lot in the Catholic cemetery, where beautiful flora offerings marked the tomb.

Serving as pall bearers were C. A. Reeves, W. B. Hudson, Jas. Becker, Dick Douglas, Eben Bee and Jas. Grafton. Honorary pall bearers were F. V. Becker, W. L. Case, A. B. Middleton, Sr., Tom Young, E. A. Nalty and J. A. Alford, Sr.
