Van Rader, 82, of Karnak, Ill., died Sunday at 11:55 a.m. at the Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
He was born Sept. 20, 1919 in Wirt County. He was a retired carpenter and a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Upper Salem Baptist Church in Metropolis and the Carpenters Local #640 of Metropolis.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Lucille Roberts of Karnak, Ill; one daughter, Vanita and Phillip Corzine of Karnak; three granddaughters, Crystal and Tim West of Karnak, Tonya and Tim Wiseman of Metropolis, and Kayla Corzine of Karnak; one grandson, Austine Corzine of Karnak; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Blanche Vernon Rader; and one brother, Donald Rader.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak, the Rev. Carl Miller officiating. Internment will be in the Anderson Cemetery in Boaz, Ill. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the funeral. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Vienna VFW Post #5222.
