Mr. Meredith (Red) Adamson, 74, of West died Friday, May 24, at a West nursing home. He was born June 30, 1927 in McLennan County, son of Joe and Johnnie Lou Ruzicka. He attended West schools and graduated from West High School. He served his country in the construction battalion with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was an electrician in the maintenance department for Texas State Technical College for over 20 years before retiring in the early 1970s. He also worked for Snokhous Plumbing, Ray Barton Electric, Bates TV Shop, Burlington Mills and Wolf’s Bar. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 4819 and American Legion No. 478. Survivors include: five sons, Mark Adamson and Monte Adamson, both of Gholson, Mike (Snake) Adamson, Miles (Pee Wee) Adamson and Melvin (Inky) Adamson, all of West; one daughter, Margaret King of West; one brother, John J. Ruzicka of Austin; one sister, Mary Foitek of DeRidder, Louisiana; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services with military honors were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 27, at Closner Cemetery near West. They were conducted by VFW Post No. 4819. Memorials may be made to the West Volunteer Ambulance.
