Funeral services for Mr. Robert Wayne Davis, 69, of Cookeville, were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, September 27, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth W. Kirby officiating. Graveside services with full military honors followed at 3 p.m. at Sadlersville United Methodist Church Cemetery in Adams with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Davis, retired from the U.S. Army, died Thursday, September 23, 1999, at Alvin C. York VA Medical Center.
Born April 25, 1930, in Cameron, OK, he was the son of the late James Henley Davis and Sarah Cherry Davis. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a brother, Lester Davis, Wooster, OH; a sister, Olene Flute, Sayre, OK; four half brothers, Veachel Davis, Damon Davis, and Leonard Davis, all of Poteau, OK, and Buddy Ray Harris, Antlers, Ok; three half sisters, Mae Inez Eccles, Atwater,CA; Reba Stansberry, Oklahoma City, OK, and Faye Jackson, Clayton, OK; a special aunt, Melba Neely; several other aunts and uncles; and several nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers were Veachel Davis, Damon Davis, Leonard Davis, Will Robbins, and Jim Scott.
Honorary pallbearers were Odell Lemons, Jim Pittman, Les Davis Jr., and Donald E. Davis.
