His parents also preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Daut) Gaba and Ruth (Clint) Andrew, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; one son, Ronald (Amanda) Behling, Dwight; two brothers, Bill (Diane) Behling, Rolling Meadows and Donald Behling, Franklin Park; four grandchildren, Cyrus Gaba, Jayden and Reagan Behling, and Zackariah Behling; one niece, Sharon; one nephew, Stephen; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
He was a semi retired Lutheran reverend of 40 years, being a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Goodfarm. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis.
Rev. Behling could read, write, and speak five languages. He was a founding member of NICL (Northern Illinois Confessional Lutherans), formulator and original signatory of "that they may be one", a confessional statement concerning fellowship and public prayer, based on holy scripture and the Lutheran confessions.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography, history, family genealogy, and was a member of the National Riflemans Association.
