Charles V. Barnes
Charles V. Barnes, 60, of Damon died in a Houston nursing home Saturday night, after a long illness.
He was employed in the oil field work until he was taken sick. Born in Linden, La., January 13, (* note the marker states January 23, 1892. Had been a resident of Damon many years, member of the Church of Christ of Damon. He is survived by his widow, Mr. Jovita Barnes of Damon; four daughters, Mrs. Juanita Hoelewyn of Damon, Mrs. Dorothy Baker, Mrs. Anne Crosland and Mrs. Charlene King, all of Houston; one son, Richard T. Barnes of West Columbia; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Portis of Baytown, and Mrs. Loraine Danheim of Houston; three brothers, J. T. of Rosenberg, Carl of Paducah, Kentucky, and Webster E. of El Campo. Funeral services were held Monday at 3:00 p.m. in the Church of Christ Church in Damon with Rev. Matt Arrington officiating. Interment was in Damon Public Cemetery. Pallbearers were L. Barfield, R. C. Hall, R. C McKinney, G. A. Buls, O. H. Vick and Frank Deckert.
