HAYES ABEL DIES AT 83 IN HOSPITAL

William E. (Hayes) Abel, 83, a retired farmer and resident of 808 W. Water St., died Monday evening at the Jay County Hospital from a heart attack, he had been in failing health several months. He was a member of the Salamonia Christian Church, Jay County Golden Wedding Club, and the Boundary J.O.U.A.M. Lodge.

Abel was born Feb. 22, 1877 in Madison Township Jay County Indiana, the son of George W. and Sarah (Smith) Abel, and was married to Minnie P. Locker Feb. 27, 1904. She preceded him in death Nov. 19, 1960.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Luther Breymier of Madison Township, Mrs. Walter Hilfiker of Portland, Mrs. Paul Lutes of southwest of Portland, three sons, Glenn W. of Madison Township, Kenneth E. of east of Union City, Marvin E. of Montpelier, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Russell Chrisman will officiate. Burial will be in the Salamonia Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral.
