Former Resident Dies Here At Home of Niece

William Wilber Alden, 79, of Ashtabula, O., a former well known resident in the Shafer lake district southeast of Hartford, died yesterday at the home of his niece, Mrs. Alta Conklin on South Maple street, where he had been cared for the past few weeks.

Mrs. Conklin went to Ashtabula some months ago to care for her uncle who was in failing health, and recently brought him to her home here.

Mr. Alden's nearest surviving relative is a sister, Mrs. Frank McGowan of Watervliet. There are several nieces and nephews residing in the Hartford and Lawrence communities.

Mr. Alden was for many years a conductor on the New York Central lines.

Funeral rites for him will be held from the Zuver & Calvin chapel Thursday afternoon at 2, the Rev. W. E. Goltz officiating, and burial will be in Hill cemetery at Lawrence.
